Is it just me, or does there seem to be an endless string of mindless polls going on ATM?

Zoss,
My boat is not sinking but it does have a noticeable list.
Greg.

I don't know why we can't just ask a question, and wait for answers, without there having to be a poll on it :? , to be honest at present, when I see the poll, I click out and go to another topic :( .
I feel that if it continues this way in the end no one will comunicate, they will just vote on a topic and wait for the results, and no one will learn anything except how to set up polls
For example 7 people voted and only three commented, good way to kill a forum.

Cheers

Where is the "other, cause they don't really determine anything meaningful in the end" option?

Old Dude is probably right- just asking the question works. It is a pity that Greg's boat is listing but hopefully the plimsoll line is still visible.
The polls have some value if you can get enough responses- eg the age groups of forumites was quite interesting. :)

Totally agree Mr Morlock, some of the polls are very interesting, as your example indicated, but having a poll for which stereo you like, or what type of vent rings, just looses me.
Ask the question without the poll and people will respond. :D

90% I'll just ignore the poll and read the topic as normal. They're not that annoying, but most of the time they don't hold much value.

Perhaps we need a section in the forum just for polls?

Perhaps we should poll that!

Must admit this morning I was briefly trying to think of a good tongue-in-cheek poll question.

BTW have you even noticed that most companies that give sh*t or non existent customer service always ask you to "take a survey" (basically a poll by any other name) letting them know how they can improve their customer experience, but they never act on it?

The Americans are particularly into crap like this.
