13b renesis conversions available soon

Postby 284GCZ » Tue Oct 27, 2009 4:01 pm

guys, a good mate of mine-Tony, owner of Mr Rotary Speedshop, will have a complete car done and registered in the next week or two-
1st subframe was based for an NA model, but last minute has been done into a NB for bigger diff/brakes/gbox etc..

Will be there tomorrow to take some pics.. will post up soon.

conversion will initially be available for NA/NB models only and will include enginering certs, full exhaust and microtech i'd say-

cost will be APPROX 20k drive in drive out for nb model- more for na depending on options wanted

quite reasonable price considering the steady power curve and hp available..

How much for just the subframe?

What sort of Gbox mounts are used? Modded PPF or just mounted off the body?

TURBO 13b is un-engineerable.. although very easy to turbo once conversion is done- trouble if you are caught i'd say.
renesis torque curve is very linear- so would be perfect for the track-

around 20 give or take for NA model- this would include nb lsd rear end, nb brakes and gearbox too.

obviously conversion is cheaper into an nb car..

Conversion is based on custom fabricated subframe, gearbox modification to accept output shaft from rotary, full exhaust with your choice of extractors-(long/short primaries) to suit powerband required, and ecu- also extend porting, bridge porting, dowelling, big injectors whatever- anything is possible to do in-house if the money is there.

i was contemplating being the first customer for this conversion but my na6 had some small issues and couldn't justify spending 20k on driveline.
considering what i've seen older members spending on 1.8 long motor builds- like 6k just on the block, this seems a bargain really.

Have acsess to an Rx8 for daily use and it is very quick. This is a standard car with full interior, boot full of junk, and standard airbox and exhaust..
In a mx5 NA OR NB, with over 500kg less to push, plus more power, gained from ecu & exhaust at a minimum the car would be an absolute weapon & legal.

redline begins at 9000 on a standard motor and doesn't cut until 9600/9800.. power delivery is very linear with no light switch lag to boost feeling.

ANYWAY hope to have some pics up soon- just a reminder i have no business affiliations with this shop- any prices quoted by me are not set in stone- just repeating what i've been told in discussions with Tony.

P.S. i also doubt that an offer of subframe/mounts only will ever be made available- more interested in turn key conversions opposed to back yard ones, or someone taking the kit to someone else to be fitted, then taking credit for his months of design work..
Tony has also done a 12a turbo into mx5..(engineered) this would only be available on an early NA model because of the motor dates.. Fastest untubbed rotary in australia runs a 12a so lots and lots of power can be had.. price around the same

he's flicked that car- was going to be converted but time and money.. cheaper in the long run to start with NB-

i just sold my na for 12100 and i've seen nb's go cheaper than mine.. worth a few extra $$$ for the better rear end/brakes/gearbox.

i just think NA's look better and won't date as badly.. if i had a golden cheque book my choice would be an NA conversion-
