NA6 MX5 Register

The thread on trivial information of NSW Club members made me think about who has the earliest NA6 MX5 in Australia. When I used to have an AE86, there was a worldwide register for the VIN numbers. Especially with this year being the MX5's 20th Anniversary, I thought we could try to find the earliest NA6s and compile a list.

Sort of like this:

Australian Delivered *First Series of NA6 MX5s
*must have first section of the VIN that reads JMONA306100XXXXXX
Name/State/Built Month & Year - VIN *JMONA306100XXXXXX
Unknown/NSW - VIN ************011
mx52nv/WA/Sep '89 - VIN JMONA306100100162.

Australian Delivered *Second Series of NA6 MX5s
*must have first section of the VIN that reads JMONA306200XXXXXX

*Edited several times for accuracy and specifics to ensure 1st Series, 2nd Series & Imported NA6s have their own list. :wink:

*PLEASE NOTE: I think that the complete VIN is necessary to ensure accuracy of this list. Especially as there could be sequential numbers that are more than the last 4 digits. Do not post if you are uncomfortable with this due to privacy issues. :mrgreen:

Do you want only Australian delivered cars? Or you'd also include the Eunos Roadster grey imports?

Hmmm I was going to include Eunos Roadsters.
So I have edited the OP to have two separate lists to distinguish them. :mrgreen:

You may find that one of the first NA6 in Aust is in a private collection in Toowoomba.

It was the first del in Qld.

Someone from the Qld club will have photos somewhere.

Can't be.
tbro's is an NA8 Clubman.

Hmmmm....there must be a difference somewhere in the VIN between NA6 and NA8?
ie. it "resets" somewhere along the number code and thus the last 3 digits are not simply the number as it rolls off the production line.

Les, since your aim is to find the earliest NA, and therefore NA6, perhaps you want this register for NA6 owners only?
If so, then that takes tbro and myself off the list

well as we know mine is 403 built in aug 1989 Aussie delivery

And I happen to know Mazda Australia took possession of it on the 30th Oct. 1989 down in Melbourne

Mine's a very late NA6 (mid-93) with a VIN very much like this:

JMONA306200200xxx

so it's incorrect that all Aussie NA6's must have a VIN starting JMONA306100xxxxxx.

Mine has the toilet seat badge on the nose and standard power steering fitted.

There must be at least two series of the NA6 released here, the early 100xxxxxx series and later 200xxxxxx series, or are they just different years?
