NB8A vs NB8B

Postby Boags » Tue May 06, 2008 3:49 pm

OK, before you throw things at me; hear this one out.

I'm looking specifically for NB owners to comment. I have a comparison to make; if there are any variables I haven't mentioned, just assume they are the same for both cars.

NB8A 30,000kms A few scratches in paint
NB8B 80,000kms good paint

Price is the same.

Which one would you buy and why?

If it comes down to just 2 specific cars, then go the NB8B......later model, 6 speed box, better paint. The 80,000k's shouldn't matter.
If you were considering the NB8A, try and find a good clean 10AE, has more goodies again.
Happy 10AE man [#5128]

Be patient and keep looking for that elusive NB8B with good paint and low km for the right price.

I've owned both models and they are both very similar in many ways.

The NB8A is more reliable, I believe, but only has a 5 speed box.

The trade would say the B as it's newer and more than likely, it would have a better re-sale value down the track, but that depends on how long you intend to keep it for.

If you are going to re-sell it in 2 years time, go the B, but if the A is in better condition with lower k's, and you intend to keep it for some years, and you don't worry about only having a 5-speed box, then get the A.

Just my 2c.

Bigger brakes, stiffer chassis, better front, better seats, better tail lights, more power ... saves you buying an NB8A and putting all those kinda bits on it
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

This is what I was thinking. For the same reason that I wouldn't buy an NA6 again in future; I shouldn't buy an NB8A.

I was looking for support from the community; I guess I have found it. :D

Thanks, oh wise and learned forumites. 8)

NB8B for sure! As previously said, it is just a better car.

umm, you can't fit a Boags group buy master cylinder brace to an 8B! Does that sway you?! :D Oh, and tyres - more choices in 8A 195/50/15 than 8B 205/45/16.

I can't think of any other reasons right now.

Same dollars involved for both, I'd go the 8B.
