Yeah people will slash your roof to get at any spare change or anything else you have in the car. Try leaving it parked with your glovebox, ashtray and centre console open so that people can see you have nothing to steal. Parking dings are bad in train station carparks as well as a lot of people are in a hurry to catch their train. One of them things I guess. Mechanically nothing will happen to your car by parking in the sun. Just make sure you care for your roof, paintwork and dashboard a bit more than normal

Agreed! I'm currently paying $180/month for a spot in World Square, which is actually really freaking cheap but still adds up to $2160/year

Used to park in Haymarket where I had my top slashed

WHHHHAAAATTTTTHHHEEEEEFFFUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!! CHEAP!!!
"Sydney, the once beautiful and vibrant city, where the thieves have now taken over both the streets and the car parks".
You'll have to start paying for breathing air soon, no doubt.
I would shell out the $800.00 and know my paint/roof/security will be in better shape in 12 months. I park in Surfers Paradise....underground....top down...cameras everywhere...24hrs...secure...FREE...

If you have no other choice than to drive it to the station, then go for the undercover parking, park miles away from any other car, preferrably between two walls!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The money you spend will more than be made up in depreciation to the vehicle caused by sun damage to the trim and paint, as well as the enevitable freak hail storm or other random acts. Parking at the station itself was never a desireable action from my POV (used to train to uni with my celica) due to lots of prying eyes walking past a nice car all alone in the carpark...
By far the best option would be to buy a scooter or bike or something that doesnt really matter if it gets damaged whilst parked in the middle of nowhere... Plus you will be saving your car for those times when you can really enjoy it, ie, the weekend!!!!!!!!

Frrrrrruuuuck, that's cheap. I rack up around $100 p/day parking in the city. At the bare min, it's $50 p/day.
Do they still have spots available at Wsquare?
To the OP - $800 p/a is nothing. At least you'll have peace of mind.

What station is it at as well? If it's one of lesser repute, then you'll probably have more problems with people doing aforementioned silly things to nice cars. If you're at a decent one, then there's not really much of a problem. If I take the train, my car's usually fine. When I was doing uni I always parked there, and never had a problem with dings or people doing stupid stuff to the car (although this was with the previous car which was a KA Ford Laser

Nope, sometimes more. I'm not insane and certainly don't have more money than sense (wish I did!). Work pays for my parking and I use valet more often than not. It's worth more to them to have me doing my job than walking to / from car etc. Catching cabs is also a pretty good option, however it works out a little more exe if I need to go from CDB, back across bridge, back to CBD and out etc.. Plus I like driving.
Without a word of a lie, I've had $2.5k month of parking charges. Sydney is horrific - I love it when you go elsewhere and pay like $6 an hour for secure parking, people baulk at that!
