MX5 & child seat
Has anyone successfully fitted a child seat in a MX5? I would think it is possible, but I'd like to get confirmation.
If it is then there really is no good reason for me not to get an MX5

Stantheman fitted one to his Brown Davis roll cage.
I occasionally ferry one of mine in a booster. Only over 3years old for me though. I won't put my little Wahini Girl in the car till she's a bit bigger.
For me it's all about what the seat belt will do and where.

I've thought about it for my Clubman.
I have a style bar and could drill a hole through the bar between the shock towers.
I am irresponsible though.
I had a mounting fitted to my last car - hot 63 Falcon Sprint convertible for my baby...
And before that was driving that car fast with my pregnanat wife in a very dangerous old car - 1 week before the babe was born.
Thats was before the belts were fitted too

NB's are a no, no as the airbag can be deadly
Its defenantly possible in an NA.
I had mine installed by a official RTA babyseat fitting station originally when the Co-pilot was born. about a year later i nstalled the BD rolll bar and attached the seat on that.
The Co-pilot & I practically lived the car.....especially those middle of the night hoons when he wouln't stop crying. When the princess arrived this all got a little harder.. Both kids are now in booster seats..... and i still have a MX5
we do also have a familie hack as well.

I've got 3 Stephan. Malibu's going nowhere
There's something special about dropping your kid off at school and having all his mates whoop and holler at the car. Makes him king for the day!
Litle kids just go nuts over MX-5's.

I knew the passenger side airbags in NCs would be a problem, but do NB's have a passenger side airbag? (Or is the driver side airbag a problem, too?)
I've seen some references to a special Mazda Child seat (?!) that contains a transponder to deactivate the airbag (See http://mx5ocforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=16941&view=previous&sid=a9344c5a713eb61b97da349edbb14642). Has anyone seen one of them?

I bought the BD Steel bar specifically so I could mount a childseat, using the standard harness captured nuts.
Bought the bolt from Revolution - the whole setup is stronger than the mounting points in our Magna. I'm more than happy with the result.
My little girl loves riding in Daddy Car.
Cheers - Mike
