MikeVictor,
Rough my arse, it was you that suggested that "that you did not want to mess around with idiots if you could avoid it", and yet you still seek some sort of affirmation. Have you even considered the possibility that there are members here that sell Mazda's?
On the matter of discounts, why might contributors to these pages be privy to said 'discounts'.

If you feel that I am offended, then you are correct, bundle your purchase proposition and take it to a Mazda dealer, insisting of course that you do not wish to deal with idiots and let us know how you get on.
Greg.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

MV, welcome to the forum!
Did you actually read the post before you asked the question because if you did there are lots of views, speculation and a few facts about pricing of the ND.With your dual purchase you will really only be looking at a total price so the discount of each car is irrelevant, the total is important.

Don't be put off by any responses in general I have found this forum to helpful and a source of knowledge and experience which has been a great benefit to me.

I'm a dealer, and proud of it.

I'm also a member of the general populace and proud of that too.

MikeVictor sorry for the rough intro.

I can't blame you for wanting to find if there are recommended dealers / sales people.

I'm a firm believer in word of mouth recommendations and rewarding those people who provide excellent customer service.

Given you are buying 2 cars i'd expect many dealers would be wanting your business.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I'm a tad surprised this seemed to turn into "all dealers are idiots". I certainly think that's taking my first post and extrapolating it rather wildly. Further, I'd add that I've known some great dealers and dealer principles over the years, some of which I now count as friends. Clearly however, there were some people with either thin skin, having a bad day, had a few drinks and have a chip on their shoulder that decided to come out swinging for one reason or another. To be expected in any online community though.

Thanks to everyone on the helpful side though, it's appreciated. I'll hang around a bit and see what it's like here.

cheers,
Mike.

This. I bought my ND from Dave last month and was very happy with the service that I received from him, it's nice to buy from a real MX-5 enthusiast.

Regarding pricing, Dave asked me not to talk about it, however suffice to say that I was happy with the deal.

BTW I was also an out-of-town buyer, and Dave offered me the option to either have the car shipped to me or to pay for a one-way airfare from Sydney to Melbourne and then to pick me up and drive me to the dealership.

I chose option 2 and really enjoyed driving the car back to Sydney along the Princes Hwy (the coast road) which added up to just under 1,200km. It was the perfect way to run the car in, do a very pleasant road trip and see some interesting towns along the way.

Regarding a Melbourne purchase for a NSW resident, can you outline the legalities regarding registration, stamp duty etc? Thanks.
Enjoy your ND

You take the car away on a permit and don't pay any VIC on-road costs. Drive to your home state and pay your on-roads there.

So, pay a Government fee for a what? 7 day permit?
That is only cost in Victoria?
Then stump up all on roads in home state?

Are you allowed to drive the car back to home state?
Are their temporary number plates? or what.

I'm interested - that's all.
Thanks

7 day permit to drive home costs about $50 ?
No plates are required.

Unregistered vehicle permit will be issued buy NSW (for example) for the car bought in Victoria, and will be valid in all states except WA (it's a long drive from VIC to WA anyway).
There are no temporary number plates involved in a UVP, it's very much a good faith thing, you are expected to drive carefully etc.

Now: Chaste White NA8
