A good topic, and a good read, with good Q and A.

One thing I might add, with regards to driving to the conditions.

There comes a time in our lives where we become good drivers. Often this is early.
There may come a time in our lives, when we realise we aren't always good drivers. This often comes much later, if at all.
The truth is, we aren't always good drivers.
We need to read ourselves, as well as the conditions.
Are we cranky, is there something on our minds, have we had two drinks in the first hour and one drink for each hour after that, are we on the phone, Is there a passenger talking about stuff, taking some attention.
I was taught once, to look for the 'suspect' drivers in traffic. The ones on their phones, the banged up vehicles, the noisy doof-doof, the ones moving around their lanes erratically on occasion, the kids in the back misbehaving.
Stay away from them, and the chances of meeting with them reduces.
Once you do this, you may realise that sometimes, you, are one of the suspect drivers, even if the roads are dry.
