Try Autmotive Plus and ask if they have any. They may have a non-warranty one (x - customers).

Wheels are easy to get. Any 14" 4 x 100 like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mazda-MX5-alloy-wheels-/121316842180?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c3f0c1ac4

Is it possible to get the receipt from the previous owner to verify the condition it was purchased in?

It's also possible that the previous owner swapped the diff over & then blew it up as well.

Was the car drivable when you bought it?
I assume it wasn't due to blown diff
Is it currently registered?
I assume it was sold unregistered for that price....and given the assumption it wasn't drivable

My concern is that there maybe a lot more work to do other than the replacement diff
and you will have the cost of getting a roadworthy certificate+ registration
I assume wheels won't pass a roadworthy.....
You could conservatively be heading towards $1,000+ to get it on the road?
Diff+ wheels+ roadworthy+ registration....+any additional works to get it roadworthy???

Something not right about the numbers and the additional diff provided having that damage??
Still a cheap car....but If you are strapped for cash you may have some drama ahead

All the best....Hope it works out for you

still registered for 4 months rims have 80% of tread on them so its just the diff thats really putting me out of action. i dont see why it wouldnt pass roadworthy as the ride height is over 100mm with me sitting in it and it doesnt have any issues, only interior carpet is screwed and it needs a rain rail :)

To change ownership in QLD it needs a roadworthy certificate.

This is true - but having been through this process recently TMR are flexible on the time the transfer needs to be done if it's between private buyers. I forget what's on the form time-limit wise (14 days?) but I had a little mix-up with paperwork (didn't have the particular colour copy of the RWC I needed) and it ended up being a bit over three weeks.

That might be true, but it sounds like the paperwork was already done, technically your not able to advertise it for sale with out a rwc.

Unless it is advertised for sale without a roadworthy and then the plates need to be removed and surrendered.

Zabinskii has the car been transfered to your name, did it come with a roadworthy and possibly contact Automotive Plus and get some history on the diff as well as possibly the car (if they have serviced/repaired/seen it).

its already been trasferred into my anem it came with a roadworthy, so theres no real stress there, i will get it checked over again by a mechanic or somewhere that does roadworthy certifficates just to make sure that it wasnt a dodgy roadworthy. ill fix anything that needs to be tended to aswell.:)

everyone knows an "easy going" RWC person.
doesn't mean it's dodgy.

But I'm also confused.
Are both the diffs you have broken?? on the car and spare?

and is that all that needs to be sorted other than rain rail?

surely you aren't thinking about stripping and selling a car just because of those items.

Here is a fix to your wheel situation..

Why is everyone suggesting replacement wheels. ffs he can't even afford a diff, why would he be interested in changing rims right now.
Just get a cheap NA6 diff from a forum member who's upgraded.
