Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Coffee boy seems to be putting in lot of time for someone who is not going to buy a car until next year.
I think that I have read stuff from this person before! (They had a different Username).
Greg.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Was his previous user name Wayne Kerr?
But I do agree that it's only a car. You can take it or leave it. If you desperately want it, then pay for it.

That's car sales talk for $39999
As the great Darryl Kerrigan once said: "Tell him he's dreaming!"
Brand new drive away price in NSW is around $42k. If he is asking for $39,999 i'd laugh until the cows came home. Who buys a ex-demo for less than 10% off the RRP price? You can bargain that easily off a new price (I already have twice and walked out because I don't settle for less than 15% off).
I'm not a fan of the Mazda car dealers, too cocky on price, which is fine, for that kind of money, i'll walk out and get something interesting.
Actually, I said this:
"Anyone looking for a demo 1.5L Roadster GT manual in Blue Reflex with 4,500kms available immediately for a number starting with a 3?"
I would have thought that would leave a decent negotiating margin some someone who's actually looking for a car as opposed to just wanting to price bash it.
As it happens, I'd agree with a few of the comments about pricing, although not with ones about 10-20% discounts being available as those merely demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of dealer margins.
And I too would only join in negotiations with someone who is ready willing and able to proceed if we can agree a deal, not with someone who is 6-18 months away from placing an order.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Any ideas on Mazda Australia's future plans for the ND with regard to the 1.5L vs 2.0L?
ie. Will they continue to sell both as long as there is a demand or is there a preference for one over the other?

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
No news reaching dealers at the moment about rationalisation of the range. This does not rule out Mazda Australia or Mazda Japan taking their own future decisions.
My dealership has sold 50/50 1.5/2/0 albeit the 1.5 proportions were increased by there being no 2.0s initially. People seem to like both the motors, for their own different reasons.

Coffe boy, If you don't like the style of a mx5, why are you even in here. Money talks and bullshit walks. That's enough feeding for you. Tada.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
You can bet that Mazda Aust makes the decision on what to import based on economics and what sells. If the volume falls away they will standardise. The NC seems to me as an example when the tourer was dropped for the PRHT but sales volume was a trickle. I heard the 1.5 is a better drive than the 2 but that might not be correct. The Ford offered a turbo 4 for both Falcon and Mustang but in the former option the public did not take it up and the latter its unlikely that the V8 will not rule. A motoring journalist told me the handling was better with the smaller engine on both.

By this time tomorrow, (actually 9.25am) we'll all know exactly what the ND PRHT will look like.
I have the green light from the Minister of Finances, so if it is as good as the spys have said, I'll be lining up for one.....

If you do a google reverse search on the photo, you'll find it's pretty old. Also the twin exhaust and the different wheels are another give-away.
However, I like that rendition and I'd buy one of those in a heart-beat, but I think by this time tomorrow, we'll be looking at a different animal than that!
Targa, Coupe, Convertible....maybe all three in one????

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
By that image I assume the plan would be an electric targa?
I can't really see where the rear clamshell could fit, not without having a few more hinges added.
Personally I think the lines look terrible, with the roof on fully it looks to have too much glass for the body, and with the roof panel removed it looks like a cheap kit car.
The Targa look only works on older more boxy cars, and ones where the rear section looks to be more structural, or useful (ie: hatch)
Think 300ZX, Exa, and similar.
