Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
I think vw did a much better job re the rear camera. Hyde it behind the badge.. simple.
Same with fuel fillers. 1980 ford Ltd had it behind the rear number plate. Never mattered if you pulled up to a pump on the right.. or left and you didn't have a visible fuel flap.
Is a Pitty that such simple yet ingenious ideas are not continued on other cars.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
That's the spare from a 2004 SE aka NB8C fitting nicely in an ND boot. For anyone who's even more paranoid about getting so bad a puncture that it would stop your journey I reckon you could get two of these in the boot, plus one or two on a boot rack.
AFAIK the 4x100 PCD works with ND. I haven't tried fitting it. I haven't looked at offset or brake clearance. Please check all safety requirements etc before using one of these as they're designed to be used only as temporary spares and only on NA and NB and only at up to 80kmph so the ABS doesn't get too confused.
Also, before buying and using one (or four for giggles!*), check the condition of the rim and the age and condition of the tyre.
I take no responsibility etc etc. Please do your own checks for suitability, safety etc.
* No, don't do that, especially not on a public road.

The NB space saver spare was tested by the guys over in the US, doesn't fit unfortunately......

Maybe with a spacer, but what would that do to steering geometry?

A spacer on a second hand, old, space saver spare...... What could possibly go wrong?

the boot's a joke- its tiny and something like a third smaller than the NC . The ND has been seriously pared back in regard to space and utility.

To be honest, if you're running a single 3inch wide tiny space saver on a car the steering will already be compromised, I can't see how a spacer would make it any better/worse.
In saying that, I wouldn't want to use a spacer without also using extended length wheel studs. (more spacer, less thread for the wheel nuts to hold)
if the issue is caliper clearance to the wheel face a factory steel wheel may be the better option, as they tend to have a fair bit of space behind them. Maybe the regular steel wheel from a base model Mazda 2 or something?
as for people saying "where do you put the alloy wheel with the blown tyre" stick it in the boot and tie the lid down with a jockey strap or similar.
Not that it matters, from Dave's photograph of the boot on and ND it seems that a normal sized wheel could fit anyway.

Apparently volume is approximately 150 litres for the NC, and 130 litres for the ND
Apparently the NB boot is about 144 litres, and I've always found it more than enough for normal running around and holiday luggage.
The only time I've found it lacking is bulky or long items, which the NC would also struggle with.
Most MX5 owners from my experience tend to own (or have access to) two cars, the other generally being a larger car.
About the only exception I've found with this is young people who've bought the MX5 as a first car, or single people who use less space anyway.

I always laugh when I see comments about boot space in MX-5's ... Mum & Dad use to take us three kids on camping trips around England, France and Spain in a Mini .....

Dave
Thanks for taking photo of NB spacesaver in boot. I will check brake clearances etc and see if I can fit original wheel in boot with tie down when I get my new ND.
Cheers

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Hi all,
Well my dealer called and my new 2.0L Roadster has finally landed in Melbourne, and being released on Monday. Hopefully will have it delivered before new years day. Anyone else expecting their new ND in the next week or two?
I was wondering if anyone knows of who to talk to about getting a custom exhaust fitted to my car?, preferably in Victoria, but we are close to the SA border, so Adelaide would be an option too.

Town & Country Exhaust Centre 118 Fyans St South Geelong 5223 1350. Have a great system & rep so very popular with MX5 NA & NB owners in Vic.

Yeah known, but OP wants a recommendation for someone relatively close by to consult. Also happen to know of at least one forumite that consulted T&C about modifying the NC system a few years ago & was more than happy with their advice.
