The insurance company's preferred repairer said that he didn't want to touch it!
With regard to insurance claims, always go with what you want and not what they suggest or prefer (RE the insurance company preferred repairer)- you have the right to repaired as original specs..... they always, always go with contractors who quote the cheapest cause it usually covers the majority or "common and standard repairs"-
Understand. Sheen Panels in Melbourne are a repairer group in Melbourne who happen to be a Mazda preferred repairer. If the accident is completely the other party's fault, they will bypass your own insurer and use their own lawyers to directly pursue the "at fault party's insurer". This way your own insurer, who may be pursuing the other party's insurer who may be part of the same insurance group and may, therefore, not be working in your best interests, is completely out of the loop.
I have registered my accident with my insurer so it is on their records, but told them not to progress the claim until further notice because another party is going to attempt to work on my behalf. If Sheen Panels' lawyers are successful in getting an admission of liability within a week (their normal turnaround time) I then cancel the claim with my insurer completely.
So that's how I'm playing it. And I get a repairer that I know can do the job.
