Yeah I guess it depends on luck and timing. I will keep a look out for any one who is selling their SE. The silver ones looks nice as well. And red ones are even harder to find. Just wondering in terms or smiles per gallon, is there a big difference between the SE and the non-turbo nb series?
I don't plan to track the car, so I am just wondering how much of the SE's extra horses and torque is usable on the normal roads and if the non turbo ones are just as good on the normal daily drive?
Soon to be owner of a mx5 se?

You have hit on the obvious question that you should ask. I was just about to ask it before I read your last post.
I sometimes wonder if I would have enjoyed an SE even more than my normally aspirated one, but having never dríven an SE, I don't know.
Comments from others suggest that the increase in performance is not great and so it isn't such a big thing in terms of benefit across the wider range of use.
The NB & NB8B VVT motor is a sweet little unit, and I hate turbo-lag, so I probably made the right decision, and realistically, there are few situations when I would really need the extra bit of urge from a turbo.
At the outset, you should probably try to drive both SE and non-turbo.
