Re: Share what your ideal MX5 would be
Perhaps if they didn't have TVRs reputation for build quality they'd be more like an MX-5.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

The Rover V8 used by TVR and in the car in the original post was a pretty reliable thing (checkout heaps of Range Rovers for proof along with all those cars that got the V8 as a transplant - Stags, Jags etc). Cars with that motor, including TVRs, did go wrong in lots of ways, but it wasn't generally the motor.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

nb with a b18c
nc with a k20a
if they came out of the factory with these engines and type R equivalent chassis/brakes/suspension they would have been immortal. lets just act like s2000s dont exist

NA shell
NB wheels, suspension, chassis and interior
All with an NC engine.
Maybe not ideal, who knows, but I think it would be a good lot of fun to drive.

Re: Share what your ideal MX5 would be
I'd do a retrofit to my NC ( not prepared to give up the recarro seats
)
But i would be more than happy to ditch the engine and gearbox and swap it out for the running gear of a Tesla roadster...
Some basic Tesla Roadster stats
Powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and a 375-volt air-cooled electric motor, the Roadster produces 215kW of power and 370Nm of torque (400Nm for the Roadster Sport variant).
It has a top speed of 212km/h and it accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds. That’s as fast as the $399,000 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2, which has a 405kW/510Nm 5.2-litre V10 petrol engine.
Just hope the future technology gets here in my lifetime

Once had the miss pleasure to drive a V8 MX first and last impression was its a "pig"

Re: Share what your ideal MX5 would be
My ideal MX-5 is a PRHT NC with adjustable Whiteline sways, a GWR Roadsport II muffler, master cylinder brace, EBC pads, braided s/s lines. Oh, and four B/stone S001's with a really great alignment.
Greg.
What's not to like?
I am with you Dave, I had the distinct displeasure of driving an NB with a Lexus V8 in it and it was horrible.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

The engines are great..... but there's a lot more than engine in a car.
Somebody may have an incredibly healthy heart, but if they've got a broken leg they aren't winning ayn running races.

Now that sounds good! Just add the NC PRHT and it would be perfect.

Re: Share what your ideal MX5 would be
MrRevHead posted this video in the RandomPhoto thread, no clue as to what was in that build but I think it is close to capturing what my ideal MX5 could do.
