Re: For how many of you is your MX5 a 2nd car?
My first and only car.
Don't need anything else as I live at home, and my parents both have their own NC's, and my sister has a little Hyundai getz, and we have a spare X-Trail if I need to move seats wheels etc.
I imagine it will eventually be my second car. I'd like to one day have something like a 2door 4seat coupe as a daily.
Not a big fan of unnecessary doors and space.

I have an ED3 sedan as my daily and the mx5 is the fun car for when I'm in the mood to drive it.

I drive a VW Transporter as a daily and the MX5 is the weekend toy. (Thus this mornings flat battery).
It is such a chalk & cheese experience between the 2 but both are great for their specific purpose.

I hace a really nice Subaru Liberty GT-B. This is supposed to be my daily buy every morning I open the garage and unless its really pissing down, I take the MX5.
Ive had the Subaru for 2 years and done 4000Ks and that includes a trip to Forster and back.
They are so much fun, only driving them on weekends is ridonkulous.
Life is short, enjoy every minute.
Richard.

I thought 3,800km in my 86 since last February was bad!!
My Corolla Sportivo racked up 32,600km in 9 years - the NA wins every time!

Re: For how many of you is your MX5 a 2nd car?
This thread prompted me to check just how far I have travelled in/on my vehicles since the purchase of my NC in Nov 2009. It looks like this,
Bravo ute. 40343 klms
NC. 51564 klms
BMW M/cycle. 12020 klms
That's a quarter of the travel distance to the moon and an average 26000 klm's / year, I drive my employers vehicles as well and we tend to travel on time rather than distance ie, Castlemaine is 17 klm away and travel time is 15mins. Sometimes when there is little to do I sit in the window of the pub, a spot that provides a view to the towns two sets of traffic lights
. The MX-5 is my other car but I do use it for the majority of Melbourne trips, kids, shows etc.
Greg.
EDIT. Spelling.

I did hear this Rumor of winters here, But have yet to see even one flake of snow.
But on very rainy days, I take my Little MX. (With the top on).
Yes I once had a DeLorean, (Or two). But they are toys not daily's.
Parts have to come from far away and they are getting old.

Mx5 is my third car, but by far the most fun!
^ I borrowed a mates a few times, wow I was impressed. Think it is a 2.5L turbo diesel, very tempted to get rid of my commuter for one. Towed the mx5 like it wasn't there, plenty of room for the track days.

Re: For how many of you is your MX5 a 2nd car?
I used to just have a bike and an NA, then updated to the NB. The bike was for work and fun on the weekend, the MX5's were for wet work days, fun on the weekend and trips away. The NB is a bit more civilised for the daily grind but the NA was fun too. I changed jobs and now have a daily 90km mainly freeway commute to and from work, not much fun on a bike. So now I have a Mirage for work and transporting bulky goods. (Did you know you can fit a bath tub in the back of a Mirage) The bike is now for fun on the weekends and the MX5 is in semi retirement for fun on the weekends and trips away. I love all my vehicles, they all do a great job for the tasks assigned to them.
