An NA bodyshell with the full host of ND tech would be amazing.
None of this retro "look" just out and out original shape with 2015 underpinnings.

Yeh that would be awesome. I love the way Singer do that with the classic 911's, They do do change the body slightly to allow larger wheels and brakes to be fitted but it still looks classic :D

Always like the NA chassis with all the NB gear fitted.

Realistically though, what "ND tech" is really worth having?
To me it's just more complex stuff to fail for minimal improvement in actual useability.
It's hardly like the 'useability' difference between an MGB and an MX5.

Making some real progress on the 2.0 SAG version over in the states.

Goodwin full exhaust, headers + mid-pipe + muffler and tune, nothing else.....
Here's the base Vs. modded dyno plots.

Also "saved" another couple this week from "investing" $25k+ in an MGB. Helped them buy an ND Roadster auto instead. Wonder which would have proved to be the nicer car to drive? No disrespect to an MGB by the way. An MGBGT in Harvest Gold with wire wheels, overdrive and Webasto roof was one of the first new cars I sold. Giving my age away again!

And here I am still looking for an MGb/a to replace one of my NA's. having had a supercharged MGA ions ago I still crave a British historic even though I know all the shortcomings...

At least you'll be in the happy position of still having an NA.

I've been tempted to shove the guts of an MX5 into a shitheap MGB just to annoy both MG guys and MX5 guys.

I already refer to my current MG as a "Z type" to piss them off. (the Type models usually referred to pre-war, and other early ones, the T Type being the most common. many already class mine as "not a real MG" since it's just a tarted up Rover, but I do love annoying them all :P )

You have WAYYY too much free time on your hands if you're even thinking of doing this.

One of the guys I work with is fitting a Ford Duratec engine into his Elise and decided NOT to do a build thread since he's now considered a pariah in the Lotus community and would get nothing but flak (for those who don't know, the only acceped alternate engine for a Lotus is a Honda K-series engine). It's a pity there's no build thread because the level of engineering he's put into it would rival Danny's NC Rotary, he's done all the CAD work himself and the CNC fittings look like works of art.

He chose the Duratech over the K-series due to cost but since his build has taken so long, as they often do when you DIY, in hindsight he reckons he may as well have waited and bought the K-series.

the problem with the MGB MX-5 transplant would be that it would be an all round loser. The MGB is a great car for its period and you cannot put an ND on Club Plates either and thats a real issue for those guys that don't drive the fun car very often. The other issue is that the ND is depreciating as soon as you drive it out the door and the classics are holding up or even appreciating. We get MGB cheap in Aust and the same goes for many of the classics.
