Looking for suggestions for image hosting sites. I did have/still have a Photobucket account but that's all gone to the dogs with linking to forums as can be seen by my image-less garage thread
Tried Flickr but there's no easy way from the phone app to link to a forum because BB code links etc are only available on the desktop version and I don't want to be "sharing" oversized hi-res images directly on here.
Imgur appears to delete your photo after 6months
Don't really want to upload to the forum directly.
Is Photobucket worth using again now there is Google chrome plug-ins to get around the paywall? Won't help my garage thread and old posts as I think the hyperlinks actually changed somehow. Should I start again and potentially be burnt twice?
I've found I have been posting less on here because I can't link photos...
What would be great is a site that re-sizes and only uploads images at 800x800px res just for linking to forum boards.
Suggestions?

Re: Image Hosting Options
Hmm.... now that I've just posted that, is it just me or is Photobucket hyperlinks working again?? I'm on a work computer that has zero plug-ins enabled and I can now see all my hyperlinked photos!
Has Photobucket caved to the backlash??

Photobucket restores photos “taken hostage,” hopes to lure back customers with cheaper plans after last year’s $399 debacle

Re: Image Hosting Options
I use Smugmug as my photo hosting site, I pay ~$70pa. I've got over 20gb of photos, I use it for my 'keepers', for hosting for 3rd party sites like this one, and for ready access to high quality photos for family and friends, and NO ADVERTS
Smugmug seems to have taken over Flikr now.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Re: Image Hosting Options
I use postimages.org, it's free and a bare-bones image hoster, and NO ads, it just allows you to create galleries and add photos to them, which is all I ever did on the old PhotoBucket site, I didn't use any of their other features.
Flickr users will eventually be subject to SmugMug's pricing policies in future.

That's cool that Photobucket has un-f'd the internet, but I won't be going back. No surprise they lost a lot of business with the original decision!

Re: Image Hosting Options
There are so many old forum threads (around the world) that people have put a lot of time into, the Photo Bucket issue has F@#ked them now. I will not use PB.
I'm happy with Imgur, easy to use

:
These old "gone dark" threads should be useful again now that PB is allowing 3rd-party hosting again - UNLESS the owners actually deleted the images from their PB accounts which many would have done out of spite for their ridiculous un-announced decision to start charging US$399 per year for 3rd-party image hosting.
The CEO that made that business decision clearly had NO idea of the implications of it and SHOULD BE unemployable IMO.
Had they offered to charge a small annual fee to us small-time users and NOT bombard their site with so many advertising pop-ups that made it unusable at times because it caused my browsers to crash so often, I would have stayed loyal but now that I've moved off it completely, there's no way I'd go back.'
Hopefully the PB fiasco will ensure that other image-hosters wont go down that insanely expensive route - they now know that it'll destroy their business.

Yep can see. Just found a post saying the 6month deletion thing stopped a couple years ago when they upgraded everyone to Pro for free. So thats great. Just trying out all the options now to see what I like. Imgur doesn't seem to have a way to organise photos by newest first??
Other than that it looks to be the go now.
