Latest mx5 drama

Postby redchicken » Sun Oct 15, 2017 4:05 pm

So when I’m getting a bit low on fuel say 12 litres left and put my foot down the car bogs like it’s getting no fuel then takes off. Previous owner replaced the fuel pump and cleaned the fuel tank. Any ideas guys?
Thanks Michael.

it will not be low fuel- 12 litres is heaps. Someone will give you a list of possible causes.

Its the pumps position and pickup filter type and or location on the tank. It needs to come apart and be moved, or have its filter replaced with a genuine mx5 one if its not.

Just google, plenty of guides.

Thanks for the reply Dann
Is it an expensive fix if I took it to a mechanic? I pretty hopeless on the tools.
Thanks Michael.

As you are experiencing this problem when fuel is low, due to the in-tank fuel filter sock pickup issue, just don't run the tank so low & leave it until your skills have increased - costs nothing & your increased skills will be very useful for the project you've recently bought.
Btw, you may also find that the car bogs down with low fuel on hard or long left or right turns.

Thanks for the reply mate that’s exactly what’s happening when I get low of fuel and I take left turn quickly the car will bog down.
