After ND Seats

Postby Daz » Tue May 16, 2017 6:54 pm

I have a project car that requires some narrow seats. The style of the ND or Fiat seems like it would be a good fit, I don't suppose anyone has seen any come through out of a wrecked ND yet ?

There are plenty of them from the US as they prepare the Miata race cars, but I imagine they will be hard to find here....

Oh boy, I bet they would sell some of these if they made them an option here !

Such a shame we don't have recaro options here. Just hope we never do as I'd be spewing after ordering a ND.

Just to disappoint you, it will happen.
Mazda are a pain here as they only will put these in some sort of LE model once sales start to dip.
They will likely come with either BBS rims, Brembo brakes or Bilstein dampers and some sort of special colour.
They could milk 3-4 different LE's over the ND life cycle by putting just 2 items at a time. They have history.

I'm sure there would be wrecked ND's somewhere. I don't know if the usual suspects on this forum have gotten into them yet as there wouldn't really be a market for used ND parts yet.

Some of the seats now have air bags in them - something that may not be compatible with a donor car. Recaro seats and all sorts of other things may not have been included in local cars but it all costs extra money and the prices all already creeping up - and RF apparently is already up around $50K from a car that started nearly $20K below.

There are dealers now advertising RF at 45k for the GT and 42500 for the standard, I am watching :D The "have to be first to have it" bubble has passed and the cars are now unsold in stock. I would agree with Luke, they are likely to sharpen price or add special models to bump sales, just the nature of the beast.

That Recaro might be the best seat I have ever seen in an MX5 though !

I believe the ND recaro seat is a standard ND seat frame re-upholstered by recaro. So entirely different from standard.

A bit off topic but I'm curious, which dealers are advertising it for that price??
