I think the Oxley has too many really tight bends.

Newcastle to Uralla via Bucketts Way & Thunderbolts Way, although a bit rough, is a must. Glen Innes to Grafton on Gwydir Hwy is also a must do.
Wootton Way is great, but only 20 klm's & you have to be travelling up the Pacfic Hwy to do it.

Also, well, make sure you do the Oxley Highway, and then there's the Oxley Highway, but not if it will interfere with the chance to do the Oxley Highway!

I did that route heading South earlier this year though I think I went left at Chillingham and not right... that's a nice drive.

And as Nevyn says, Oxley Highway is great (can't have too many corners!) Its a tricky road I think to fit when you are attempting North/South though without adding a big chunk of time.

Route 97 - Chillingham - Tyalgum - Uki - Nimbin - Casino is a great MX-5 road in either direction

Trip has been delayed a bit for various reasons but now hoping to leave in 2nd week of Sept. Having fun plotting a route from all the helpful feedback

Will do my best to catch up with as many as I can,really looking forward to this.

If you're passing thru Brisbane on 13 Sep we have a Club run over Mt Nebo/Glorious to lunch on that day and a track day on 14 Sep. You're welcome to attend either or both.
