Day Five is from Coonabarabran to, well, home. I had planned to stop at Coonabarabran at the end of Day Seven with today's trip being Day Eight.

However, I am well rested from an excellent night's sleep at the pub and on my way much earlier than usual; 06.30 instead of 07.30 or 08.00 as I have been most mornings. I fell asleep with heavy rain outside and wake up to find it's still raining:

I make excellent time and am at the Parkes Obsevatory by 09.30:

I had planned to stay overnight in West Wyalong, which is only another hour or so down the road. However, SatNav tells me that from Parkes I could be home by 19.00 (including breaks); roughly 750kms. I decide to head home.

Not a zebra crossing:

Sheep, Sir - thousands of them!

M1L3S has behaved faultlessly and not given me any trouble at all. Prior to leaving the only prep I did was having two new tyres on the front (to get rid of the awful Pirelli P6s I had; slidey in the wet and squealy in the dry), a new air filter and checked fluids and plugs.
