P Plate laws (NSW) SE ALLOWED

Postby dave2221 » Mon Jul 21, 2014 1:52 pm

So,

Reading up on the new P plate laws in NSW.

Based on Kw/Tonne, and taking into consideration speed.

So basically, 130kw/tonne is the limit, however they factor in things like a WRX does 0-100 in 6sec. so its banned.

Interestingly, the SE MX5 is now p-plate legal, a 200sx (and i assume Silvia and 180sx i didnt check) is now legal.

But a Honda S2000 is now banned!

wonder if that will help boost SE prices, now that p-platers have access (did i sell mine too soon?)

Well,

2008 S2000 puts out 176kw (136.96kw/tonne) BANNED
2000 200sx puts out 147kw (116.20kw/tonne) 0-100 7sec ALLOWED

they said only special case cars such as less than 130kw/tonne but 0-100 around 6 secs would be specifically added.

Interestingly, some WRX models are available.....

2004 WRX Auto puts out 168kw (116.3kw/tonne) 0-100 6.9sec ALLOWED
2004 WRX Manual puts out 168kw (120.2kw/tonne) 0-100 5.7sec BANNED

so they take into consideration power to weight, but then factor in performance time on top.

Didn't realise Nissan were so conservative with their 200sx figures.

What is stupid is that how are they going to regulate mods that are stealthily made?

Come on grant, you know better than to expect a group of people who suffer no consequences for doing a sh*t job to do a good job.

Not sure what it will do for prices but a few months ago there were ~15 SE's listed on Carsales, now there's only 4, coincidence? :|

according to the website all 2001 and 2002 models are allowed (Spec R & S)

Redbook puts them at the same Kw figure too..... 147kw

Difference between spec R & S is cosmetic.

Your thinking of the JapSpec ones... they are more powerful.... had a ball bearing turban etc.
