Hi Guys, not sure what area to post this in - so Mods feel free to move if needed.
I have just started to have a starting issue with my new MX - 1992 NA6
all was going well and starting every time fine, but since yesterday when turning the key on it will show dash lights on IGN but when switching to start - nothing
repeating the process 150 times may get the car to fire once - and when running - all is fine.
Just noticed that when the car is doing this there is also no power to wipers or electric windows..........................
I first thought there may be something to do with the old (possibly half removed) alarm system - but now and leaning towards the ignition switch or similar
Battery load test seems OK
Lights are bright and functioning OK at every stage.
Any help or suggestions are welcomed
Matt

Re: Electrical Starting issue
If you haven't already, clean battery terminals & wiring loom connectors to same. Then check all the wiring loom main earthing points. Also check Fuel Inj relay in engine bay fuse/relay box.

Re: Electrical Starting issue
You should be able to start it by the old method- push it down the drive or street and select 2nd and lift with ignition on. It sounds like a loose connection - try the starter motor connections. If you get it running line up the auto elect.

Re: Electrical Starting issue
Hi All,
Spent the day digging around the wiring on the car - removed the old alarm system (car is 40kg lighter now) and found the problem!
It was rusted and shorting connectors in the wiring loom where it connects to the ignition switch - clean up the terminals clean the area and fit a new connector and VOILA - instant ignition every time!
One of the reasons I bought the MX was so I could do as much myself as I can - so I reckon by doing it this way I probably saved a bundle of cash for more bits and pieces!
