Its only $440 if you go outside the normal number/letter arrangements, mine are only a extra $90 for the colour option.

But even still once you pay the initial fee/cost to get the plate you want there shouldn't be a yearly fee after that IMO doesn't matter weather its $400 or only $90 still a rip off lol they'll do anything to make some extra money.

But peoples pay the moneys to do it. I did, well the workshop that sponsored me when I was still in NSW, for a few years with Z16 on my 260Z for the yearly fee when $440 was almost as much as the full rego and green slip, plus I had ZED016 on my ute to tow it around, which at the time was a standard issue plate so no extra cost. Up here in Qld I have had a few, PZG302 on my old ZG Fairlane, $55 reissue , PXL265 for my Charger - $110, yet to be put on the car as it is only 13 years, about to be 14 years into a 6 week rebuild, and the MXN46 for the 5, $495, and another plate for me, MAT707 which is on my current daily.

It's what you get when you have a (morally) Bankrupt state government......
I was willing to pay $99pa (+$160 one-off fee) for my close to perfect plates but not willing to pay $440pa (+$270 one off fee) for the perfect one!

Re: Show me your numberplates and what they mean to you
There's a definite limit to what I would pay for a "personalised" plate.
What I paid was about it. ($120.)
It amuses me to have a standard issue plate with my name on it but if they upped the ante I would not pay them another red cent.
Personalised plates seem to be the norm for a lot of young folks these days and if they are happy to part with the money it's all good.
