Air Conditioning Compressor

Postby NitroDann » Wed Oct 09, 2013 11:23 am

Did they change it at all during the NB series?

NB8a and NB8c will swap without problems?

Thankyou, just trying to find out for a friend who needs a new one, and is looking at a good used one from an 8c.

As 16bit said, NB8A were all dealer fitment, but I beleive they were an actual Mazda unit, rather than an aftermarket.

I have the air-con out of a JDM NB8A, which I presume was factory fitted, and would be interested to know if it is likely to differ from the dealer fitted system in Aust delivered cars.
Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure they are the same.

If I remember correctly I think it was more to do with shipping (something about Japan using gas that wasn't allowed in Aust?)

Thanks
So Mazda Aus imported MX-5s without air-con to avoid a "luxury" tax!
Sounds funny now :-)

Most MX5's had the A/C as genuine option, all the ones installed in Australia should be the same but some came from Japan with A/C installed, the Jap version is different, if you look at the firewall where the pipes go through the Aussie version has 2 pipes, the Jap. Version has an alloy block in the firewall, the compressors are different.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...
