I have had a leak in the air con for some time now and have had people look at it but not cure. The last guy used a detector that found that the leak was coming from under the dash. He was able to put some sealer into the system but unfortunately this did not fix the problem so we will need to pull it out for a complete inspection.
Can any one recommend any one in Melbourne, preferably in South East?
Cheers!

Re: Looking for Air Con Specialist
If the leak is coming from under the dash, it is most likely the evaporator or the expansion valve, both are relatively easy to access behind your glove box.
I'm not sure why the last 'specialist' put a sealer in, as over time, they usually cause more harm than good (such as blocking the expansion valve...amongst other parts).
If you don't mind getting your hands a bit dirty, and the leak was definitely detected from behind the dash, purchase a new evaporator and expansion valve (& o-rings) from Rock Auto in the US (relatively cheap, even though shipping is somewhat pricey), get someone to evacuate the system, follow the video attached to this post, go back to an auto electrician and get them to do a deep vacuum, then fill up the system with gas & dye. You should also change the drier at the same time (~$20-30 from any auto parts supplier).
You will save significantly on labour and also the part mark up from both Aus AC suppliers and the auto electrician.

Re: Looking for Air Con Specialist
Thanks Mr Revhead for your info. I'm not mechanically minded but I will show this to some of the Thursday night guys who may be able to help me.
Other than this, can anyone recommend an aircon specialist
Cheers!
